Less is More
I’d say that, when thinking of that needed vacation, that pair of shoes, or tech gear I’ve been wanting to purchase, I used to think in my mind that it would take forever and a day to be able to obtain those wishes! It occurred to me to over time: a little goes a long way.
If you put away a little daily then you will be able to meet short-term financial goals faster. To show that, let’s say you set aside $20 a day for a month. That’s over $500 for that first month! A little daily can make a difference and be rewarding for those wanted vacations etc.
Out of Sight, Out of Mind
Yes, throw out the piggy banks. Autosave is your new best friend! Most banks offer this feature anyway, you just have to set it up. Now, this leads to another benefit to saving daily: receiving additional cashback when saving. Hopefully, you already have an open savings account with a credit union, but if not, it will definitely benefit you to open an account.
For instance, I’ve found that setting your autosave (from your personal bank) to transfer to your savings account with your credit union yields higher interest rates, which will help you to achieve your financial goals faster.
Skip Take Out & Do This Instead
In order to go on that vacation or purchase those “wants”, some sacrifices have to be made. The upside of all of this, you will be able to enjoy that vacation, etc. with peace of mind. In my experience, when saving daily for a vacation, skipping take out temporarily and cooking more at home made the process smoother. All you would need to do is take a little time to plan out those grocery shopping trips (E.g. creating your shopping list ahead of time) and most of all, your mind and body will definitely appreciate it!
